It's a BOY

First and foremost the ultrasound on Tuesday confirmed that we are having a baby boy.  We are feeling blessed but even more so at peace with the findings from Tuesday's meeting with the genetic counselor and ultra sound.  There were no markers for Downs Syndrome and my numbers from the blood work were really good.  We only had a 4% chance of having a baby with an abnormality.  I wish someone had told me this from the beginning.  Our risk of having a baby with Downs Syndrome has now gone from 1 in 28 to 1 in 56.  I guess they still have to give us this statistic because I was in the high risk range.

The ultra sound went really well.  Robert and I had a great view of the screen and the girl doing the ultra sound was fabulous.  She would say things like pretty arm or pretty baby boy.  Robert's grandmother Kitty would always call him a pretty baby so I thought that was quite fitting.  Then it went to long legs and strong heart!  It was all music to my ears, I know she got tired of me saying is that ok when there would be silence for a second.  I'm not going to lie, I was pretty anxious.  We got to see the blood flowing through the heart which was amazing to us, we had never had an ultrasound so detailed so it was fascinating to see.

My parents and Abigail were waiting for us when it was over in the waiting room so we got to celebrate with them.  We went to Dunkin Donuts and had donuts and ice cream, it ended up being a great afternoon.

XOXO
